Easter blessings & a moment to pause

Happy Easter Lovely, 🐣🌷✨
This beautiful Easter weekend has had me reflecting on the many recent blessings in my life. The quiet, tender moments… the unexpected gifts… the ways life continues to soften and open, even when we’re not looking for it. It’s so easy to move through our days without fully receiving what is already here.
And if you feel called, keep reading… I’d love to share a simple mindfulness practice that can help you truly capture these moments of joy—so they live not just in your memory, but in your body.
I invite you, in these sacred pauses, to slow down, to notice, and to take in your own blessings… to honour them, and to let gratitude settle deeply within you as we welcome this season of new beginnings.
A dear friend once told me before my wedding day, “It will go by so fast—make sure you pause and take it in.” That wisdom stayed with me. During our ceremony, as I stood with Scott, surrounded by all the people I love, I felt this wave of happiness wash over me. And I chose to pause. I gently tuned out the words being spoken and instead dropped into the moment. I noticed what I was feeling… I took in the faces around me… the light in the room… the energy of love surrounding us. Even now, I can return to that exact moment—so vivid, so alive in my body. One of the happiest moments of my life.
On this Easter Sunday, I found myself doing the same. I was with my family at my sister and brother-in-law’s new home on Sydenham Lake. We walked together to their community maple syrup boiler, then down to the shoreline overlooking the lake. We stood looking out at Loon Island, where our family cottage sits, and I was struck by how different it felt to see it from this new perspective. I took a quiet pause. I imagined myself standing at the base of one of the trees overhanging the water, hands resting gently on its trunk, looking up into the canopy. I noticed the sensations in my body, the emotions moving through me, the deep sense of gratitude… for this new space, for my family, for the beauty of nature, for the moment itself.
These are the moments that shape us. And when we take the time to truly feel them, they stay with us.
Here is a simple practice you can use anytime you notice yourself feeling joy, contentment, or even a quiet sense of peace:

A Mindfulness Pause for Joy
Gently pause… even for just 20–30 seconds
Take a slow, conscious breath
Notice what you are feeling in your body (warmth, softness, expansion)
Notice what you are seeing around you (light, colour, faces, nature)
Notice what you are feeling emotionally (joy, gratitude, love, calm)
Let yourself fully receive the moment, as if imprinting it into your being
You might even silently say: “I am here. I feel this. I receive this.”
These small pauses help anchor our experiences into our somatic memory… so we can return to them again and again. Our minds are Teflon for the positive experiences and Velcro for the shitty ones so we need to help our brains and bodies remember the joy filled moments of life.
These are some of the blessings I have been reflecting on this past week…
🌷 Last week, after my pink full moon yoga offering, I took a quiet moment for myself… sitting on a bench overlooking the creek and downtown Kemptville, with the most stunning full moon glowing softly behind the clouds. It felt like everything slowed just enough for me to really take it in. This is where I began pondering the many blessings of the season—the beauty of nature beginning to awaken, the blossoms waiting patiently to emerge. And the next day at home, my own little clump of crocuses had bloomed… a gentle, hopeful reminder that we have made it through a long winter.

✨ My wonderful friend, whom I lovingly call my “Yoga Momma,” Karuna Mayi, celebrated her birthday last Sunday. Though we had no plans to get together, serendipity brought us together that very morning. I am so grateful I got to share a hug with the best hugger on the planet on her special day. I love you, Gwen.
🪶 At the end of March, I was blessed to hold space alongside Falen Reid at a yoga and sound bath for Beth Donovan Hospice in the beautiful Manotick United Church. I am always humbled by the healing that happens when we sit in circle and share what’s in our hearts.
🦉 And I’ve just booked a return trip to Point Pelee—one of my most cherished places on earth. This time, my husband will experience it for the first time, and I cannot wait to share that magic with you, my love.
I hope you enjoyed a beautiful Easter weekend, filled with moments worth pausing for.
I am so grateful for each of you… for the light and love you bring into my life, and for the ways you continue to show up—for yourselves, and for this shared journey.
With love,
Diana
